"Sunbird was barely a recording studio, it was Chris' friend Phil VanAllan's home studio [Phil was also the engineer], set up in the garage in front of Phil's parents home. He had a Dokorder 4-track machine and a crude but functioning control booth and playback system. We had no real recording experience, so we mostly did what we were told. I remember we knocked it out pretty quickly, thanks to working hard at practice the week before."

"Neutron Bomb was the first song I ever wrote and the same was true for Kid Spike with Killer Queers. We were very excited. Chris originally released Neutron Bomb as part of a What? Sampler EP, with a cut each from The Skulls and The Eyes. It had a plain blue cover with a cut-out for the label. Both original versions are rare."

"If anyone has a copy of the EP, the version of Neutron Bomb on the first release is a little different from later editions. Chris re-mixed the guitar solo and added ton of reverb before he put out the single."
